Three Rivers Weaving and Spinning Guild is located in southwestern Wisconsin within the coulees and valleys of the Mississippi, Black and LaCrosse rivers. The guild was established in 1986,members travel from as far away as Iowa and Minnesota to a central meeting place in LaCrosse, Onalaska or Ettrick, Wisconsin. The guild meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month in guild members homes. This keeps members in touch with each other, spanning the substantial distances between homes and studios. A technical/educational program is scheduled for each monthly meeting. Members have developed their skills through weaving and spinning classes, help from each other, and of course, years of practice.
The purpose of our guild is to teach those interested in learning to weave and to spin, educate the public about these skills and essentially, to keep the ancient fiber crafts alive and well in our area.
The guild demonstrates weaving and spinning at area functions including the Great River Folk Festival, The Pump House Regional Center for the Arts, and at Norskedalen's Mid Summer Festival in Westby, Wisconsin. Individual members also demonstrate at area schools.
